Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Websites can also keep small amounts of data in your browser's local storage or session storage. This policy covers all of these.

Cognya only uses cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary for the service to work, or that remember choices you make on screen:

• Sign-in cookies (tutors): set by our authentication provider, Supabase, when you sign in, to keep you signed in securely. They are not set for visitors who are not signed in.
• Administrator session cookie: a security cookie used only on the administrator account.
• Display preferences (tutors): your browser's local or session storage remembers choices made in the dashboard, such as how worksheets are sorted, which panels are collapsed, the student list layout and dismissed notices. This stays in your browser and is not sent to us.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not load third-party analytics or advertising scripts. Because we only use strictly necessary storage, we do not show a cookie banner.

Students enter a passcode to open homework and do not sign in. The homework portal does not set cookies or use browser storage for students.

When you subscribe or manage billing, you are taken to pages hosted by Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own domain, under its own cookie policy.

You can control cookies and site data through your browser settings. If you block or delete the sign-in cookies, you will not be able to stay signed in to Cognya. Most browsers allow you to:

• View cookies and site data stored on your device
• Delete them individually or in bulk
• Block cookies from specific websites

If we start using any cookie or storage that is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

For any questions about our use of cookies, contact us at support@cognya.co.uk.
